Does Doing Less Matter in the Long Run? What Happened to Stewardship?
Put Down the To-Do List and Enjoy the Moment
I saw this sentence, “Do your most important tasks well.” It made me realize that we often spend our days making To-Do lists (me included) instead of stewarding what is in front of us and doing less. The stewardship of each task is more important than getting more things done. Am I right?
Think about this. How do you feel when you go through a check-out lane and the cashier not only greets you but makes conversation with you? Don’t you feel seen and acknowledged? So, what about your tasks?
What would it look like if you saw the value of each task and took care of it like it was a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Slowing down and enjoying each moment is important. Doing less does matter in the long run because you won’t be rushed, stressed, crazed, and frenzied. You will drink less caffeine and eat less sugar because you’re running around trying to check off tasks on a To-Do List.
Each task you must take care of today gives purpose and meaning to your life, even if it’s not your favorite task. Maybe it’s cleaning the toilet or washing dishes. I am not a fan of housework, like @VidyaSury. Don’t get me wrong, I love a…
