INVOCATION
O Spirit, as we enjoy the Summer months and the weather that comes along with it, help us to have fun and enjoy the fruits of the season.
Sshhhh! There are surprise recipes at the end!
Have you heard, “It’s gonna be a scorcher!” This phrase means it’s gonna be a hot one! The word “scorcher” is a noun that describes “a day or period of very hot weather.” The Brits also use this to describe “a remarkable or extreme example of something.” Ex. That novel is a scorcher or those two people are having a row, a scorcher.
In the Summer, we also hear words like “muggy,” a word that describes a day outside that feels like a sauna or steam room. This English word began to be utilized in 1746 coming from the Old Norse version of mugga, which means “drizzling mist.” Yup. That about sums that up!
But, what level of SPF will you be using when you go to the pool or the beach? As most Americans know, SPF stands for “sun protection factor,” referring to the level of protection from the UV rays of the sun that are in a given sunscreen lotion.
