O, Great Spirit
Whose voice I hear in the whispers.
And whose breath gives life to all the world,

I honor the breath given to me,
As sacred and life-giving.

Let me walk in beauty,
With each and every breath given.

Let me see with new eyes,
Honoring the sacred breath that gives oxygen to my eyes.

Let me know in my heart and soul,
That you honor my breath as life-giving.

Do you take breathing for granted? I imagine if you don’t struggle with taking a breath you don’t even think about it. I know I do. It’s not that I’m ungrateful. I just don’t think about it. I take it for granted. How about you?

But without breath, I wouldn’t be alive. My heart would stop pumping. Oxygen is necessary to keep organs (especially the heart) moving. And so, breath becomes sacred and life-giving.

As you take time to relish in self-care Sunday, remember to breathe in joy and gratitude.
