After many years of studies, deaths, and more studies, a woman is finally cured of HIV! But, wait. She’s not the first. Apparently, she is the third person, globally, to be cured.

The important and more amazing news facts are that this individual is a mixed-race woman. Scientifically, this is a huge step forward for community impact.

As most of you know, diseases and viruses affect people differently, especially in terms of gender and race. The effects of the current pandemic are proof of this as the Black and Latino communities have been hit hard from COVID infections and deaths.

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) entered the health scene in 1981. For those of you who remember the scuttlebutt, you know the deep pain and shame that many individuals endured during the early stages. It has been 40 years and 38 million people, globally, are dealing with HIV. Even today, many who are diagnosed with HIV/AIDS are shunned and barred from schools and business opportunities.
