Spirit, teach me to discern the things that I need and the things that I want. Give me the courage to let go of things that are unnecessary so that I may be free for the things that are perfect for me.

If you find your heart, mind, and soul soaked in worry, fear, and negative thoughts, is it possible that you are chasing after the wrong things? So, how do you know you don’t need something? It’s tricky sometimes.

But letting go of things, saying no to other things, and being present to the things that are meant for you can bring a multitude of joy, awareness, openness, and inner peace.

When you let go of trying to get more of what you don’t really need, it frees up oceans of energy to make a difference with what you have. —Lynne Twist

Instead of thinking you need something (spiritual, physical, or otherwise), which only breeds more envy, stop comparing yourself to others. I know … you’ve heard that how many times already?

Let’s first clear up what letting go is not

  • it is not about emotional detachment. In fact, it is quite the opposite.
  • it is not about doing away with personal boundaries
  • it is not about condoning cruelty or injustices
  • it is not about being a blind optimist
  • it is not about denial or oppression
  • letting go in the form of forgiveness is not about forgetting

What letting go is:

  • a way to explore living that matches who you are
  • it’s about being…
