I believe that it depends on the narratives of our past. If there was trauma in the early years, it's important to tell yourself that you are strong because you might have possibly been told for too many years that you are nobody and nobody cares about you. Plus those are shame messages and don't really give anyone confidence. That's my opinion, anyway. This was an eye opening read to know that someone actually uses the second camp of thinking as liberating.
