I call myself scrappy because of some fights I got into when I was 14 and first landed in the US as a biracial Asian (post Vietnam War). I told myself I would never allow myself to get to that point again. As of now, I've kept that promise, but mainly because if I had been you, I would have walked away. I don't know if that's the right answer though. Sometimes you gotta' stand up to the bullies -- just don't go to jail. And, think of it this way -- you stopped him from ever doing it to anyone at that rink again.
