Native American Prayer of The Seven Directions

I encourage you to stand and make the quarter turns as you pray.

Facing East: This is the direction that the sun comes up. It is also the direction of new beginnings, hope, promise, and potential. May you be open to receiving these gifts today.

Facing South: This is the direction of warmth, growth, fertility, creativity, and productivity. It is also the direction that represents faith, trust, and faithfulness in relationships. May you remain open to receiving these gifts today.

Facing West: This is the direction that the sun sets, which is also symbolic of rest, your dream life, closures, and/or endings that are necessary to take place for new beginnings. May you rest well and remain open to endings that bring new beginnings.

Facing North: This is the direction of cold, winds, strength, courage, fortitude, might, singlemindedness, focus, clarity, and purpose. May you remain open to the strengths you carry within you.

Return Facing East: Turn upward. This is Father Sky. Pray that your heart, mind, soul, and spirit will never forget to look up…
