That’s it. It says it all.

Why? Because when you first begin on Medium, you’re trying to find your place. Yeah, I know…some of you call it niche. I call it place.

When I first started writing on Medium, my early stories were all about herbs and herbal health because I believe in it. It has been an immense help to my healing journey from thyroid and adrenal dysfunctions and I wanted to share my story in case it would help someone else.

But, in truth, that isn’t all that I am. I hold a Master’s degree in Spiritual Formation. I didn’t spend all that money to get a fancy piece of paper in a faux leather cover. I invested in something I am deeply passionate about.

Along the way, I also write about diversity, food, sprinkled with some poetry, and whatever other top badges I have. I mention the top badges because you don’t get a top badge because you wrote one story. You get a top badge because you’re consistently writing about a topic.

The same philosophy follows when I write fiction. Yes, I do that, too. It just hasn’t emerged on Medium. In fictional stories, I allow my characters to blossom and unfold as they develop. I might have an idea of why and how they are in the story, but the rest unfolds like a napkin as…
