Spirit, give me the courage to continue to plant seeds of patience as I wait. Teach me how to pace myself so that I may go the long haul, knowing that all things will be done at the right time. And so I will breathe in patience and exhale chaos.

When I think of patience, I think of how counter-cultural it is to the impatience that has been cultivated with 2-hour and next-day deliveries. Society has become used to having things now. When you can’t have it now, you get frustrated. Your personality shifts.

And yet, in this season of Advent, we are invited to be patient in the waiting. With waiting, your heart grows stronger. So, we continue to plant seeds of patience. And with patience, there is pacing. And I don’t mean pacing the floor. I mean pacing your time.

It reminds me of training for a marathon. First, you decide you want to take on…
