Take the Anxiety Out of Gathering and Take Comfort in the Humanity of Others by Nancy Blackman, advent, holidays, Christmas, family

Spirit, help me take the anxiety out of my next family gathering. Give me a sense of comfort that just as I am human, so are the other people sitting around the supper table.

Some of the things I have been reflecting on are how much anxiety and stress people carry into a family gathering. And given that this is still holiday time, I imagine there is still a swirl of “my family is so dysfunctional” that you might be reeling from.

Instead of jumping into the conversation, why not rest in the fact that you don’t have to talk? Even if you’re the most active talker at the gatherings. And, if you’re generally the quietest person at the gatherings, what is holding you back from showing up with your voice?

Let your Light shine through. And, if you are an avid talker, why not give someone else a chance to take up space with their voice?

Why not practice mindfulness in this continued season of spreading good cheer and preparing for the next year?
