I am always humbled by the submissions that come in for writing prompts I throw out there. I appreciate that you all dig a little deeper than the surface. It isn’t just good writing, although that holds merit as well. The submissions also show the reader that they are not alone and you, who bare your souls, are brave.

Julie KingGood started out writing about the material things she could ask for and ended with a profound gift, something she could even pass on to others.

As she pondered the many things she started out describing, she finally states, “None of these things truly satisfy the soul.”

Joyce Nielsen writes about her granddaughter — how much she misses her and what it would mean to have more time with her. I think there are many grandparents that would resonate with this. She reconciles with the fact that grandchildren are precious gifts, but still …
