Yes, to sit and write out the crap done to you or you did to others is difficult, but can be useful as you slowly plod through towards the Light. Maybe you and other loved ones endured a horrific trauma. What would it look like to rewrite the story?

There is a Ghanaian term from the Akan Twi and Fante languages — Sankofa — which means to retrieve.

San = to return
ko = to go
fa = to fetch, seek, or take

When a bird turns its head back to take an egg off its back, this is what Sankofa means. We must look back into our stories (our history or herstory) before moving forward to the present. We retrieve what we have forgotten, to gain access to our future.
