So, I'm going to give a different perspective because I do serve as a ghostwriter for my Hapa community. I write stories shared through an interview process and I DO get credit for writing their stories. Normally, it's in the form of "as told to by Nancy Blackman."

These people are not writers but they want to share their stories, so I help them and get credit. It depends on how you approach it as a writer.
