stands for so many things
egg yolks
highlighters
sunlight
lemons
paint colors
sunflowers

and the way some people see me

yellow egg yolks that center the white
yellow highlighters that give importance to words on paper
yellow sunlight that warms my yellow skin
yellow lemons that refresh my food and drink
yellow paint that brightens my walls
yellow sunflowers that bring happiness to my home

yellow also stands for the model minority myth
and yellow peril
and yellow virus

yellow is the color of corn
which stands gallantly in fields where my father was born
yellow is the color of gold
which is the color of my wedding ring
yellow is the color of August
bringing sunshine across the days
