The Art and Power of Slow and Steady Plodding Can Be Life Changing
One Foot in Front of the Other
Do you remember the hare and tortoise story? The moral of that story is though the hare started out being faster, it was the tortoise, with its slow and steady plodding that finished first! In other words, how we end is more important than how we begin — life changing even!
Starting can be exciting, fun, and full of hope. Then you get started. Take for instance writing on Medium. You want to be consistent. In the beginning, it is all those three adjectives because you’re meeting new people and your work is being published!
Or, how about weight loss or exercising? You start out like a bang, getting out there every day to exercise or manage your food intake and what you’re eating. After a few weeks and months, you begin to wane.
Or worse yet, life gets in the way, knocking you off your consistent schedule and you have a hard time getting back into it. I think that’s what happened to the hare. He started out looking good and then pulled a muscle.
Plodding is not a word that people associate with fun and happiness. In fact, Merriam Webster defines it as “walk doggedly and slowly with heavy steps.” The other issue with plodding is…
