The sun never says

Even
After
All this time
The sun never says
To the earth
“You owe me.”
Look what happens
With a love like that,
It lights the
Whole
Sky

— Rumi

Most people would not describe themselves as unkind, but if you’re honest with yourself, you know you have, at some time in your life, been unkind.

So, what does it take to welcome kindness and carry it through your day? After all the power of kindness has ripple effects that far outlast you. So, what stops you? Are your days filled with so much that you have become self-absorbed to realize the kindness around you or offer a kind word? We have all witnessed how selfishness undermines manners while generosity and kindness can prompt a smile and drop the guard of others.
