We all tell people that we are happy or want to be happy. And, let’s face it, the pandemic has not helped with casual and serendipitous meet ups to fuel our dopamine levels. So, how much happy is really happening?

There is alot of evidence to support the power and value of random acts of compassion to boost dopamine and oxytocin levels. It’s uplifting to both yourself and others. I know someone who paints rocks of kindness and places them in obscure or public places for someone to find.

I also have a friend, Darcy Hansen who finds hearts wherever she goes. It’s amazing to me. The uplifting power of a simple heart reminds her that Grace is always beside, behind, and in front of her. Maybe it helps her know that if the Grace shows up in everyday places, she can offer more compassion to others.

Benefits of Offering Compassion to Another:

1. Being seen and dignified: when you smile at a stranger, you acknowledge their existence. Going one step further to say hello, brings dignity to their being. When I lived in downtown Los Angeles, I practiced this with houseless people. One day, the person I smiled and said…
