Unlocking the Positive Power of Lingering Anger
Learn to invite it in for a cup of tea, lingering only long enough to face it and move on
Spirit, show me how to best use my anger. Show me how to linger with my anger, but not let it take too much hold on my heart, mind, and soul. I trust you to guide me through this process.
Anger is such a volatile emotion, right? It can be used righteously, but it can also swerve, take a hard left and run off the cliff as you shout, “Danger! Danger!”
And yet …
There are moments in the Bible when God exhibits wrath and anger. There are also moments when Jesus displays righteous anger. So, it’s not like God doesn’t use wrath and anger to make a point or create a sense of “Hey, snap out of it! You’re not treating people with love and compassion the way I taught you.” There is a time and place for anger.
“Do not mistreat or abuse foreigners who live among you. Remember, you were foreigners in Egypt. Do not mistreat widows or orphans. If you do, they will beg for my help, and I will come to their rescue. In fact, I will get so angry that I will kill your men and make widows of their wives and orphans of their children.”
