Tomorrow is the anniversary of my father’s passing. So much has happened since 1997, and many years have passed, but it doesn’t change the fact that I treasured the time I had with him and know that my soul is worthy for more.

Full disclosure, it took me a full year to get through the thick of grieving. That’s how much that man meant to me. Both parents have not had that effect on me and my life, so those years were important to my self worth and soul needs. The time with my dad helped me accept the fidelity in my soul. It became the precursor for many things in my life.

The word “fidelity” means “faithfulness to a person, cause, or belief demonstrated by continuing loyalty and support.”

My father had a certain level of fidelity to his children, which modeled faithfulness and loyalty. For me, that has transformed into a deep sense of fidelity to soul care of individuals. It is what drove me to my calling of a Master’s in Spiritual Formation, and helps me know that when I sit with people in conversation or read comments to my writings on soul care, I am doing what I am meant to do. I accept fidelity that my worthy soul needs.
