TUESDAY MEDITATION
Who Will You Welcome? How Will You Welcome Them?
#AdventWord — Welcome
Spirit, let me welcome all as if they are You incarnate. Let me see with Your heart, eyes, and spirit of Love.
When I see the word “welcome,” I think of hospitality and invitations, and I think back to times when I felt welcomed and seen and times when I felt unwelcome and invisible.
Welcome also conjures up the idea of belonging. When you belong to something — a group, a tribe, etc. — you feel a sense of belonging. You are part of something beyond yourself.
To welcome someone means to greet them. In some cultures, a greeting includes a hug and two kisses (one on each cheek). In other cultures, a greeting is a bow. In many Asian countries, bowing is a well-known and sign of respect when greeting someone. In Korea, the deeper the bow, the more respect one is showing another. In other cultures, a greeting can be a fist bump or throwing up hand signals.
